A thumbs-down from Mr Hurwitz sends the subject recording to the top of my pile!

To dismiss this recording as "a contrived bore" is simply foolish. I agree that the Leinsdorf is a bit of a sleeper and well worth having, but for me this roster of singers and this interpretation needs lose no time in looking over its shoulder to the likes of Mr Janowski.

Oh, and by the way, it's Anja Kampe, not Anna, Mr Hurwitz.

I saw him described as being at "the moment when the freshness of youth meets the wisdom of experience" and that sums it up for me. That, and the fact that his range is so wide and the baritonal edge really adds something quite unique and distinctive to his splendidly agile lyric tenor.

Just seen him as Parsifal at the Met. Did not give it gun, but was thoughtful, almost lieder-like, fine actor, and voice in great nick.

I watched the documentary last night, ... I was a bit surprised how little we heard from Terfel in the film- a few words as he made his way on stage, and that was it. I'd like to have heard a bit more about his views of the production; but other than that, a fascinating insight.

Perhaps he wasn't terribly complimentary about the production, & his comments would have been a bit of a downer if they'd been included?
