A thumbs-down from Mr Hurwitz sends the subject recording to the top of my pile!

To dismiss this recording as "a contrived bore" is simply foolish. I agree that the Leinsdorf is a bit of a sleeper and well worth having, but for me this roster of singers and this interpretation needs lose no time in looking over its shoulder to the likes of Mr Janowski.

Oh, and by the way, it's Anja Kampe, not Anna, Mr Hurwitz.

Just seen him as Parsifal at the Met. Did not give it gun, but was thoughtful, almost lieder-like, fine actor, and voice in great nick.

Perhaps he wasn't terribly complimentary about the production, & his comments would have been a bit of a downer if they'd been included?

Karafan - it was one of his acolytes reviewing - Alberto someone but I agree with your general sentiment .

Anyone, who describes Nina Stemme as merely " potentially a great singer " has evidently been living under a rock somewhere !

Or deserves to be promptly placed beneath one!
