Any chance of discussing new non-BAL discs as per the thread title?

As you were doing in #283? How tiresome these churlish OT police are.

I took that response as an admission that our friend isn't smart enough to have picked up on the howlers at the time.

Just caught up with the CPE Bach-Fest from Saturday - what a great selection of music !!

I already had non-solo tracks of the Rademann CD (didn't like the sound of some of the soloists - I love being able to eliminate them by selective track downloading) including the opening of the Magnificat and the Symphony.... but very tempted to explore more of the latter in the v capable hands of Gustav Leonhardt. They sounded terrific

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

The R Strauss sequence after it doesn't look uninteresting either, plus the DSCH "Discs of the Week"

All makes up for a BAL sadly totally devoid of interest, for me

I agree with you Caliban. Unfortunately, I am traveling tomorrow. But it might save me money. I do not have a full set of Schumann Symphonies in my library...

Or perhaps not listening with the same Beckmesserish intensity & glee as you, Sir Velo

I greatly enjoyed the extract played from Barenboim/Staatskapelle Elgar symphony no.2. Andrew drew attention to the braass but I was thrilled by the sound of the upper strings too.

Has anyone had a chance to hear the complete performance?

Looking forward to hearing the 9.05 - 9.30 and 10.15 - 11.15 segments, I hope in a recumbent position during a nice lie-in, tomorrow when the DRILLS ON THE BUILDING DEVELOPMENT AT THE BACK HERE WON'T START AT 8am

                          The Elgar sounds most intriguing.

It really was a fascinating BaL this morning, especially the Schumann and Elgar.
It kept me sane while I was compiling next week's BaL list.
