How does the fortepiano performance sound, compared say to Jörg Demus's and Andreas Staier's, Bryn?

For the moment I will only comment "quite different". I am preparing to head up to Gt Marlborough Street for an 18:30 recital by Dave Smith and John White at Schott Music. Will comment further tomorrow (if I remember).

Yesterday's pianothon CD Review was very good indeed. I really enjoyed the Diabelli Variations. I cannot though, remember which one the panel chose. I do rather like this kind of discussion.

            - I never thought I'd ever want to buy another piano version of the Goldbergs, but the Musicianship here was such a joy to hear: irresistable.

Belated thanks to Thropps, too, for flagging this up elsewhere - impeccable taste, sir!

Second all that. A handful of copies were instantly purchased yesterday and just as soon solved as many Christmas present problems (with a free MP3 'rip' download from amazon for Santa's helper, too )

An idle thought: if you purchase, say, four copies of a CD included in this offer, does Amazon put four MP3 versions onto your computer/cloud?

Playing here as I type. I am, however, a little (though only a little) surprised to read the above from one so close to the law.

Those mp3s are exclusively for the use of the recipient of the CD/DVD combo, do they not?

No doubt there are fine legal minds devoted exclusively to the definition of the word "recipient".

I imagine what Cals is up to here is testing the rigour of legal precedent, and not indulging in some dubious semi legal shenanigans.

That Beethoven/Ligeti CD was my introduction to Denk's musicianship. Not to be missed.

I am the recipient, i.e. purchaser. If I choose to give away one or more of the items later, that's up to me...
