In my never ending quest to find the one to near-equal the Previn looks like I need to get hold of Slatkin and Mackerras."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

I might seek the Previn out though.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

Where from? Used I guess, or a charity shop.
Beef - thanks for the encouragement. The first seller welched on my purchase and I was going to forget about it but your comments on the sound made me go back!

Just listening on Spotify to Sir Adrian Boult's 1956 Nixa recording with LPO - greatly enjoying it
For an essentially slower but nonetheless very dramatic performance within those terms, I was delighted by Horenstein & RPO
