One of the finest VW Symphony cycles (LSO/Previn) is going to be re-released in April after having been absent for too long. I collected all of these on LP when they were first released, but currently have only A Sea Symphony on CD (superb in every way).

Anybody heard anything about Andrew Manze's projected 'cycle' (with the LPO, I think?).

(Just back from a super performance of the 5th by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, conducted by John Storgards.)

If anyone doesn't have these records they should not hesitate.

                  I've already got 3, 4, 5 & 6, so I need to think about it.

Nos. 1 & 2 are among the best around. Previn does overdo the wind machine a little in no. 7.

I suppose I'll end up getting it.

(when does all this CD buying stop? )

If I've already got Haitink and Tod Handley do I need Previn?

                            I would say yes.

Thanks for prompt advice. I shall probably succumb.

Even I would say yes because 2 sets is not excessive.

I have Handley, Haitink, Davis, Slatkin, Boult Decca, Boult EMI, All the Hickox, Gibson & Berglund and some single CDs including an excellent BBCSO/Sargent #4. Plus some I've forgotten about.

So maybe I should not duplicate my Previn CDs.

                                Concert-wise, I've not seen 1, 2 or 8.
