AM is indeed and indisputably one of the great treasures of R3 who keeps the level high, the music moving, the discussion interesting.
    BUT
occasionally he can edge into self-parody with the classical mag cliches / shorthand, and colludes with some other doing the same.

(Presuming he has authority to decide on this format).
Oh well if Andrew might be popping in, I thought that Roy Goodman's Beethoven Violin Concerto BaL was a breath of fresh air and I look forward to hearing more from him.

No offence intended to AMcG but I had to add this one to the list:

performance of any demanding work or cycle is always a "traversal". An appropriate noun for discussing a performance of Eine Alpensifonie or VW's 7th notwithstanding.

Is that what you call balance? You ought to be a politician.

Balancing your perpetual kvetching about Mr Goodman's BaL is what I meant, EA

Someone must have had a word with him. I think the word "tweet" came up on at least four separate occasions on Saturday. Everyone was at it; tweeting in their reactions; being begged by Mac to tweet in their reactions ad nauseam.

Oh dear. I shouldn't have drawn attention to it Next, BAL will be determined by text.

Yes thanks thropple. Compelling, fascinating, ingenious.

But the presenter is being permitted to have too much of his own personality in the grid. The words should be randomly chosen so that we depart from the old conventions of Andrew McGregor and enable a new Andrew McGregor to stand in its own right.

Ideally, nuts and bolts should be placed in the handle of the studio door and a speaking clock placed in the aspidistra.

The uncertainty should be just enough to change the patterns of his vocabulary. This will lead to interesting juxtapositions of chance with the arbitrary word selection in the grid itself.

Heard AMG say yesterday several times about various recordings; "it's a keeper". In fact, I think he asked his bemused studio guest at one point, "is it a keeper?"
