Lucy Parham's BAL on Rachmaninov's 2nd Piano Concerto in which she dismissed Richter/Wislocki without playing any of it . What was particularly ironic is that she had recorded the work for the Classic FM label and her recording was panned in Gramophone and elsewhere .

Your powers of recollection are undimmed by the Ch. Champarel, I'm very pleased to see!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Thanks for bringing things back on topic. This made me chuckle.

I do wonder, though, whether this was some whittled down Podcast version and whether the original broadcast (Nov 6 2010, it would seem) was longer. However, this has not been the case with other BaL podcasts that Caliban has kindly made available to me.

Anyway, can anyone think of a worse BaL?
I have not found the podcasts useful as the musical examples are no longer able to reinforce the words as they did during the original broadcast.

I think Roy Goodman's Beethoven violin Concerto BAL from last year should be a candidate too and whichever twit did the Debussy String Quartet a few years back and did not mention the Quartetto Italiano at all !

... Caliban doesn't advertise. If you need to ask how much it will cost - you can't afford him...

Quite right. I thought my ears were playing up until I realised that the "breathtaking diminuendo" (or whatever) had been missed-out!

The low point was when they missed the last couple of chords from the end of Sibelius 5
