Or perhaps it's not so much something you get from it but something you put into it?

It came on a sadly long-deleted 2 CD set of theirs called "Beethoven and the Philharmonic". It's terrific!
Yes, I did notice the reference before - it's now on my wish list, thanks for the tip!

What a shame that the 2 CD set 'Beethoven and the Philharmonic' was deleted... I would pay good money to have only the Cherubini 'Anacreon' overture and the unique Neukomm 'Napoleon's Midnight Review'! I can't quite believe that the rather eccentric 'Nimbus' record company didn't/ hasn't re-released at least these two items elsewhere!

The Douglas Boyd Melbourne Beethoven cycle on this week's TTN sound pretty good - currently heard 1-3 on iplayer. They were Sunday to Wednesday so can still be caught.

Agreed, Waldhorn...it was a very interesting pot-pourri, and also included a very elegantly played full string version of the famous Boccherini minuet. I tried to see if anyone had put this version of the Cherubini overture onto YouTube, but sadly they haven't. If I knew how to do it myself, I would happily oblige!

Is the Krivine set actually available any more ?

5-7 week delivery on Amazon with no other new or used offers.

              Not listed with Presto Classical.

I wonder whether its generally very enthusiastic reception has led to the original run being sold out? If so, can it be long before Naïve re-order?

A friend of mine recently bought the 2cd set to which you refer from the Amazon marketplace. It would appear copies are still available from Am.com and also from Am uk I believe.

                    Thanks!
                    Just bought it for £0.06p!
Plus the inevitably over-charged P & P but it still works out at less than a fiver... pretty good. I'd pay more than that for the Cherubini alone.

The postage and packing charge is not great when you consider that a single CD costs £1.10 to send 2nd class and the double sized box over £2! I guess the 6p will not give our seller much towards his next pint!

Hooray, Waldhorn! Now you can revel again in that wonderful piece!

Play.com has it as a download for £7.99.

Europadisc appears to have it for £25.46 (there is no mention of a waiting time).
