one of the contestants played it on the final of young musician back in the early 80's I think..and I think she won...but I could be wrong.It was a great choice for a young violinist to choose because of its exuberance.
Anyway, the way I feel about this piece, it that every so often it is exactly the piece of music I want to hear. I think its a terrific piece, life affirming, and thoroughly enjoyable.

That Nevsky has never been equalled.

The playing is fine but I am not so happy with the spotlighting approach to the recording, and as for singing it in English!

Well of course that makes it more accessible to English speakers who are not fluent in Russian...

I am also very fond of the Neeme Jarvi recording of the Nevsky .
