Here's my vote for these two (already mentioned).

Mahler 10 BBCNOW/Wigglesworth;
Mahler 6 BBCPO/Mackerras.

I have enjoyed all the Mahler that Sir Charles Mackerras recorded.

Is the Strauss Four Last Songs any good (I don't have it yet, in the charity shop the case was empty!)

BBC MM 80 (vol.7, no.8, 1999): Elgar Froissart, Bliss Checkmate (proms 1968/1973 - BBCSO, Arnold/Del Mar), RVW 4th (Glasgow Studios, BBCSSO, Del Mar).

I often used this (sighing) as a check on what the RAH SHOULD sound like against compressed FM... thank goodness for the AAC stream.

Have just been giving my annual spin to The Pity Of War from BBC Music November 2003.

Sally Matthews, Mark Padmore, Christopher Maltman, Iain Burnside, Roger Vignoles and Simon Russell Beale.

Hard to find the right words of praise given the subject matter but a superb disc and somehow uplifting and not despondent.

I am missing MM322 to 332 plus the recent Solti and Gergiev issue - due to gaps in subscription - I'll probably find the missing ones in charity shops in due course - my favourite
