At risk of flattering a member of the forum - Chopin recital Peter Katin

I do recommend Peter Katin's Chopin recital on Orchestral Concert CDs . All Chopin playing of the highest order to my ears and a performance in particular of the Mazurka Op 24 no 1 that I cannot think in my collection has been matched .

Very highly recommended by IRR and BBC MM too I see .

And I heard the Chopin Ballade no 4 some time ago and purchased the CD, also including 3 Mazurkas op 59,Sonata in B minor,Barcarolle and Polonaise-Fantaisie.

Another recommendation from me - for the Campoli/Katin recital on the same label of Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms . Delightful intimate perforrmances and Campoli's tone and to my ears flawless playing is a complete winner .

The recording of the Brahms took place in Campoli's home in 1973 and the piano Peter Katin has to play is clearly not up to concert hall standard but that is soon forgotten .
