    Digital Remastering

The recent EMI Classics series of 'Great Performances' titled EMI Masters state that they have been digitally remastered at the EMI Studios direct from the original mastertapes. Surely this does not apply to the more recent recordings that were digitally recorded? Will anyone out there enlighten me about these recording practises.

I must say I'm a little sceptical about this 'digitally remastered' tag, as I've discovered earlier pressings actually sound as good - if not better - than the later product. HDTT remasters of old analogue recordings are exceptional, though.

S'sL, you may find some answers here, though you might also find yourself asking even more. ;)
