It was an Erato release and unavailable for a long time - glad to see it's back on Apex. The download is silly value at £2.79
For me this music is the South of France: always have it on if I'm near or upon the Mediterranean
(Was reminded travelling home just now how much I also love the harpsichord concerto, 'Champêtre', played in full on COTW. Haven't listened to that for years)
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
I'm happy with the version I have, with Claire Chevallier and Jos van Immerseel, who also directs Anima Eterna Brugge (Zig-Zag Territories is the label).
However, if husband-and-wife team Jean-Efflam and Andrea Bavouzet were to record it I'd rush out immediately, having heard them perform it wonderfully here in Dublin last month.

Four posts, four different suggestions!! Good luck, 2Gongs !!
Lucky, lucky you, DJ, hearing the Bavouzets!!! I didn't know his missus tickled the ivories too

She's an excellent tickler. They gave us a delicious encore of Little Husband, Little Wife from Bizet's Jeux d'enfants for piano four hands. I had the added pleasure of chatting with them afterwards: what an utterly charming couple!

Strange to think of Maurice Durufle performing the organ concerto, the piece being so hilarious, and his own music so not. Hearing the hpschd concerto on COTW today for the first time in probably 30 years leaves me feeling it is one of his best works.

Duruflé had a definite twinkle in his eye when I had tea with him, even though he was very old by then (It's ok ... I'll pick that up! )
Love the Concert Champêtre. I listened to it a lot at University, I remember....

Bryn, Roehre: I'll third that. I have the version on LP, French Columbia, and very fine it is too. I used to have the English Columbia, but like so many things you remember you used to have, I dont seem to have it any more. But the French version is equally good. Somewhere I have the organ concerto too, on LP ... ah, that's where it is ... wonderful stuff, uniquely French. And you get the Gloria on the other side.
I've been meaning to get a version of this since hearing it at Verbier a few years ago
so any recommendations ?
Good call, I like the Concerto for two pianos. I am also very fond of Poulenc's piano concerto; to my mind a much neglected score. I admire the version by Cecile Ousset.
