Perhaps you should have also made it clear that you are a "Member of London Philharmonic Orchestra Trust; Hon Council of RPS; ABO Trust; heavily involved in LPO record label."

So you are not partial and have a vested interest. Like to really come clean?

Strauss's Four Last Songs with Lucia Popp, the LPO & Tennstedt - my favourite version by a considerable margin. And what a ravishing violin solo in "Beim Schltengehen".

An audiophile's delight on LP - Sir Malcolm Arnold's Dances on Lyrita.

Lyrita is a repository for so many wonderful LPO recordings, especially of lesser-known works.

About 22 years ago Nigel Kennedy recorded the Brahms violin concerto with the LPO under Klaus Tennstedt. One of the finest recordings of the concerto in my opinion, and a very distinctive and unusual performance. These were good days for the LPO.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Totally agree. The 'classical music fraternity' can get bogged down in too many non-musical distractions, too easily. Let's enjoy the LPO, Bohm, Karajan, Pfitzner, Barenboim, etc etc etc.

                      indeed they do
programme music , for example ?
or even people mentioning that Messiaen's Quartet for the end of Time let alone actually PLAYING it
or programme notes for Shostakovitch pieces that mention Stalin
or even St Daniel and his orchestra .................

Yes, I no longer feel the need for a pseudonym and you are absolutely correct about my involvement with the orchestra - but a bit cheeky to challenge my partiality! However, it is why I can say from my certain knowledge that the comments and views so far expressed are uninformed. I will simply leave it by saying the actions by the four players were damaging to the orchestra and that no action was taken by "management" - i.e. the whole player board and CEO - without full consultation with and the approval of the whole membership of the orchestra. Over and out on this.
