Yes, but printing a suitable label if a bit of a bind. Maybe that's why my total number of downloads remains in single figures, whereas my CD collection is in 4 figures.

Is there anyone out there whose affliction has become so severe that they have reached 5 figures?

I do burn all my downloads, as I usually want to play them in the car as well as the house.

I now usually hope to find some cover art from the original LP or some such, print it as a 12cm x 12cm square, and use this as a cover insert in a slimline jewel case, having written some brief details on the CDR with a suitable CD pen. I used to be fairly meticulous in printing track listings and times, to stick on the back of the picture, but I'm afraid life has usually got too short for that, in view of the large numbers involved. (This is CDs-A, after all.)

Quite a few bloggers include a picture of the rear of an LP sleeve, as well as the front, in which case this makes an ideal (if rather small) annotation for the back of the insert.

Of course, downloads purchased from such as Pristine come with ready-to-print inserts for a standard jewel case, so there is no problem.

I don't download much but when Amazon emailed me to say I would get £1 off my next download, not wishing to spurn their offer - niggardly though it was - I looked around for some tempting morsel. I ended up getting the complete (actually not quite) Schnabel Beethoven Sonatas for 9p.

I prefer CD's, but if there is that kind of download offer around, I think we should be told !
Anyone know the best way of finding these bargains?

I've had a few of those offers recently when I've ordered/bought CDs, but where do they go to? Are the codes in the order details or in the despatch notification? I've done this before but now they seem to be hiding the codes.

Re addiction - are there only 4 stages? http://ezinearticles.com/?The-4-Stag...ion&id=2173640

Dunno, my £2 offer was unfindable, so I actually had to shell out my £2 for the Bruckner.

I've had similar experiences wher it appears you are limited to £1. I downloaded a Searchers track whic was missing from the compilation I have, but when I tried to do another download from my supposed credit it only allowed me 31p - the balance of my first pound. I seem to remember Bryn talking of taking advantage of his offered £1 - perhaps he or others can shed some light!

I knew downloading was rubbish. The first movement is missing.
lets just hope its not worth bothering with !!(am loving the rest of it though).
                    I shall stick to CD's .

Can I get my £2 back?

I'm no expert at this downloading malarkey I'm afraid TS.
When I've downloaded stuff from i tunes or amazon it's more often than not been very straightforward.
When there are problems I just get my son to sort it for me.
There are plenty of experts on here though.

Teamsaint, I share your non-addiction-in-that-sense too, as there is hardly a piece of which I knowingly bought more than two performances..... but then I am more or less fighting with myself not to buy or tape or otherwise add to my collection of more obscure works of well known composers, and worse, even obscure work of obscure composers.
At least I honestly can say that I listened to all my CDs/LPs/MCs and that at the moment there is a backlog of exactly one LP (!) and 2 (still wrapped) CDs, which I bought last Friday in a Dutch 2nd hand shop for the earth shocking amount of exactly one Euro.

I am afraid that counts as well for memberschip of the ceedeecoholics club (well, at least in my own case )

As I'm sure you all know, this has been 'Christian Aid week'. I believe Edinburgh is unique in having a book sale which includes, amongst other things, cds. It's a highlight in my social calender and is enhanced by my lovely wife who bought me a 'stiggy'* bank wherein I insert a £ every day of the year!

As a result, I go to this sale well armed with bags of £ coins which, this year, I exchanged for:-

The new Thileleman Beethoven symphonies (£7), Sir Colin Davies's Beethoven cycle with the Gewandhaus Orchestra (£6), Kempf's Complete Beethoven sonata cycle (£6) and the new Vanska Sibelius 2 & 5 (£2). All told, I spent about £220 on stuff that is out of print.

Surely, that makes me a cd a holic!!

*(stiggy bank is a bank shaped in the helmut of the Stig character from 'Top Gear')

My total cd collection is around the 8000 mark but I have a collector friend whose classical cd collection is more than 3 times mine , around the 25,000 mark ........ and they are all in one room ........ a very large dedicated room with multiple floor to ceiling purpose built storage racks and everything is arranged and catalogued to enable speedy location and retrieval of discs. It is an astonishing sight, but I am sure there are others with more !!!
