I too have a predilection for big boxed sets. However my concern is that I fail to get multiples of those set I should be able to predict will command a premium a few years after their release. For instance, I only got ne copy of:

and amazon.co.uk don't even have it available via their marketplace now. I could ask what I wanted for slowly released single boxes from a stash of sets if I had them.

When CDs first appeared, I found myself buying them although I had no means of playing them - Does this count?

(I think they were, in general, ones of which there were no LP equivalents.)

Does anyone have, say, 3 complete Bach editions?

Oh My God!! I did that too!! I had about 15 before I got a cd player. We had a shop in Edinburgh called Leon's Locker that sold wine AND had a cd shop in the basement. (They had really weird and wonderful stuff!)

They seemed to have had a problem with thieves pinching the boxes so they had left over discs. I bought them for £3 a pop then wrote to the record companies asking for new artwork which they obligingly supplied!

            Happy days.

              pg,

At least you may have had the wine as an excuse? Mine were definitely in cold blood.

I had the opposite problem. Having bought my first CD on D-Day (1.03.83), I immediately went to the nearest hi-fi dealer and bought a CD player for £495. I then had only the demo disc and the Dutoit Daphnis & Chloe to play until I could afford some more - quite some time afterwards.

And I thought I had a problem. Not sure I even qualify for CDs Anonymous membership.

I have only lurked on this thread so far as I was certain I didn't have a problem. The stack of "yet to be played" cds and the products of the "Bargains" thread, the Janowski Ring arrived this week, have never bothered me.
I'm just looking though at the latest addition to the collection, apart from last weeks two extra Benno towers. It is a disc entitled "Ksenija Sidorova, Classical Accordian.
                                Do I need help?
