... to add to the suspense, a worry - I see the following on the amazon website customer reaction for this:

By Baron Scarpia - See all my reviewsThis review is from: The Real Chopin (Audio CD)
This is a warning to those tempted by the offer of a 21 disc boxed set of The Real Chopin. This is misadvertised by Amazon; the actual item is a single disc of the complete Chopin songs, still from the Chopin Institute (NIFC) but not the 21 disc boxed set. I hope/ trust that Amazon will revise their product information (and price!) accordingly.

One star is for Amazon's info, not the quality of the disc, btw. "

Amazon are increasingly careless about pricing and product information. They also seem to have a built-in escalator that boosts prices when stocks are low Bizarre.

Check out the comments appended to that review, vinteuil, especially the most recent one which I quoted a couple of minutes before your most recent message.

Oh, and I have just checked the tracking on my order. It has been passed to the Royal Mail at Ridgmont Bedfordshire. The very fact that the package is being sent by traceable delivery looks encouraging, don't you think?

Recently ordered the Bernstein symphonies box "kindly" pointed out somewhere around here.

Probably won't arrive in a hurry, though I believe that a CD of music by John Marsh is on its way. Some Schumann symphonies and chamber music arrived recently too.

Next one will probably be a CD by the Camarilla Ensemble, including Nielsen's wind quintet. Their CD is called Under Northern Skies - see http://www.myspace.com/camarillaensemble and http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7870248 - though I'm not intending to pay more than a tenner - for some other info.

Dave - I do hope that your CD of music by John Marsh isn't the Olympia disc of symphonies recorded by The Chichester Consort - nobody is more of an HIP fan than me, but this excruciatingly played disc should never have been released. If your CD is another recording, I'd love to know what it is.

As re-issued on the Alto label? Let's hope not, and that it is the Chandos, with the LMP and Bamert

What IYO is wrong with that recording? I heard it some twenty years ago (shortly after it was released in the early '90s). At that time I didn't think it to be bad, though it wasn't particularly good either.

Well, Roehre, I think you should give it another listen - there are some decidedly uncomfortable moments in it!

Vinteuil, that's my 'review' based on the package I received from the US last week. I also added a comment last night; I had contacted Amazon last week challenging their description. They sent an email yesterday to tell me they had investigated it and concluded:

We have researched the following suggestion(s) for this product via all available authoritative sources and concluded that the current data is accurate.
This does indeed look most hopeful. Fingers crossed...

Have just bought my first Blu-ray audio disc - John Corigliano's Circus Maximus and Gazebo Dances (Naxos). To paraphrase that well-known TV ad: 'The future's blu'. :)

Anyone else been there yet? Bryn perhaps?

I've enjoyed Corigliano in the past, but not this one. Does the Blu Ray still have the 3D picture on the cover? That's the best bit!

I think I have to disappoint Micky here - but it is that one. It's not come yet, but I have heard quite a bit of it already online. I know it's rough in places, but it's really not that bad. It's probably the case that the Bamert Chandos recording will be more polished, but it costs more, and it doesn't necessarily follow that the style of the music will match the treatment it gets. I'll try to listen to that online too - if I can find a stream. I hope the CD comes soon - I think it's on its way, but stuck in the post somewhere.

I have a few Blu-rays now, including that one, but I have yet to listen to it, or indeed all of the Virtual Haydn set. I did listen to, and watch, the Lan Shui Carpenter/Mahler 10 yesterday. I prefered it to the Zinman.
