Thanks so much for the Chopin box news, gurnemanz. I'd been waiting to order this for a while until funds become available - it is still on French Amazon for 95 euros, so as you say, this has to be a mistake, and a big one at that! Let's all keep in touch to see if we receive our respective sets!

Re the Real Chopin box, Amazon are also advertising the set (if the picture is anything to go by) for £160 and due for release on Jan 11 although the text further down describes it as a single disc!
I took a punt on the much reduced price a week ago but am not holding my breath although earlier last year Amazon did something similar with the Lindsays' Beethoven cycle offering it for both £6.99 and £20+. I took a punt on the cheapie and after 4 months it arrived for £6.99.Comment

In the WNO cast, two singers who now live in Cornwall, Timothy German [An Engineer] and Catriona Bell, now Catriona German [Miss Stuhla]. They now help run a chamber music club in Truro. After seeing your post I glanced at Hyperion offers and bought the Monteverdi madrigals disc for £2.80. Pity that the postage bumps the price up to an extortionate £4.00.

The new Naxos version of the Bax Piano Quintet in G minor. Apart from Tintagel I haven't gone a whole bundle on Bax, but on first hearing this is a GREAT, memorable quintet.I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!Comment

Richard Barratt Negatives. By Ellison. Ok, so it was back in July and I haven't managed to buy any CDs since!
It has only just been played, during my tradition of playing a work I don't know on the holiday journey. On December 23rd on the train to west Wales.
In August it was Schnittke Symphony no.4 and last Christmas it was Henze 6.
What do I think? It’s very Hear and Now. Mechanical and Percussive. Not many tunes. I’ve been reading the programme notes and trying to relate it.
Three outings so far! Makes a change from listing to him on a Saturday night on Hear and Now and not getting a radio signal or falling over and thus missing it!

My last 2 Compact discs that I bought were Schnittke Symphony no.2 St. Florian in brackets close brackets, and Stockhausen’s Mantra which was recommended by some guezzer on here. HMV Oxford Street and Foyles in Charing Cross road last Saturday.

Naxos have a number of outstanding Bax recordings in their catalogue. A particular favourite of mine is their disc of Mobius performing four of his chamber works including the Quintet for Harp and Strings and the Fantasy Sonata.Originally posted by LeMartinPecheur View PostComment
