    Bernstein Symphony Edition

I bought this off amazon, just waiting for the very slow next day 'its been a week' delivary!

It was on hmv and presto a couple of weeks ago but has since dissapeared, i presume it is limited edition but looks like a nice set, unfortunately with it dissapearing from the mentioned websites there is now no tracklist but i presume its all the symphonies Bernstein ever recorded.

Amazon do seem to be very slow in delivering at present, but I expect it's their carriers who have been delayed by the weather and the Christmas rush.

The Bernstein set should have some really exciting performances. Feedback would be welcome when you know more, Threni.

The late Haydn Symphonies are great, and the Tchaikovsky too, as well as all the Sibelius. You may not like them all but you're in for a treat! As it happens, I heard a live performance of Nielsen 5 this evening, Lennie's performance is terrific, as is No. 3. I hope they include his Tokyo recorded version of Shostakovich 5.
I haven't got the complete box that you are waiting for, but bought quite a bit in previous releases. Just one thing, the numbering of the Haydn Symphonies was wrong on my set of discs, hopefully it's been corrected on yours.

Another financially ruinous thread - couldn't resist this box as many of these recordings gave me much pleasure when I was rather younger than at present. And in buying it from Amazon Germany (it's going to my house in France) I noticed that they had a Decca Clara Haskil Edition box so that was added to the cart as well. I think I had better stop reading these posts before I resort to having to live on bread and water.

Yes, Amazon delivery times are diabolical at the moment. Awaiting Dexter Season 4, post more than two weeks ago.

              Didn't arrive today either

I'm off to the Scottish Highlands tomorrow until the 23rd so I'm hoping it will be with a neighbour on my return, otherwise its a trip to the post office on Christmas Eve, no doubt another cock up!!!

Hope my gifts for Xmas will also be behind the door, some of them are already 6 days late and that's with amazon prime next day delivary!!!

Just had an e-mail from amazon.de to say that it's not coming - and that they won't be getting any more. But in a strange coincidence, amazon.com have also just sent me an e-mail to say that they have it for a price which works out at around £70 plus about £8 postage. So re-ordered but I don't think I'll believe it until I see it.

Although amazon.com gave 17th February as the estimated delivery date, there must have been a strong tailwind across the Atlantic as the French postie has just handed me a small sack containing what is a quite large box (12" x 12") with a similarly sized booklet and four trays of CDs. I'm listening to Nielsen's 3rd - a wonderful performance, in glorious sound. Can't wait to get stuck into the rest. If it re-appears - or if anyone sees a copy, this is a great set. It has cost me about £1.30 per CD - or about 70p per symphony. Many thanks to Threni for pointing out its existence.

Glad you like it, it's probably the best box of CD's I've bought, a great selection to choose from. If I went on holiday you could take it with you as you more or less have every classical genre in the box. Although I just take my ipod haha

Just spotted this thread. Looks like a stunning set for the money, and I've only got a few of the CDs already. Ordered, and hope the stocks don't run out!

I second the view that reading these pages is expensive, but maybe necessary.
