On the other hand, I have to say that a Proms performance I attended of the 9th with Sir Colin in 1999 was one of the dullest I've heard. What you'd call an 'off night' I think!

In resplendent SWR German Radio sound, all recorded live in a single week in 2002......the 9th here is just stunning, leaving shockwaves in its trail!
This a long, long thread so you may find earlier comments of mine somewhere above....
His LCP one is very good, but this is the Norrington set I would always go for now....(true of much of his SWR Catalogue, Schubert, Haydn, Bruckner..)
