The Wyn Morris 10th often seems to turn up in charity shops.

Very true. I took my Colin a Davis LvB set to a charity shop, one of the few occasions I felt disappointed with a Richard Osborn strong recommendation.

Beet10 never really caught the music listening cogniscenti's attention, Alison - not a patch on the first nine and threequarters!
My theory is that his symphonic writing started going downhill when he added voices.

So - did you mean "eight and threequarters"?

The sketches for 10 were made simultaneously with those of 9 i-iii
We would have been in for some other structural surprises (similar to those in 9, like voices) in 10 too, as Dr.Cooper well illustrated in his artist's impression of the first mvt, based on these sketches as well as testimonies of Beethoven's friends (not Schindler !) about what the composer played for them (especially his amanuensis Karl Holz).
AFAIK there are at least 4 recordings of this Cooper piece based on Beethoven's sketches for 10.

Has anyone ever heard the Beethoven 10th movement live in concert?

I almost bought Tamas Vasary conducting The 4th & 5th with the Budapest Symphony today. Does anyone know it?

Is there a Bruno Walter cycle of LvB Symphonies, and if so, anyone know what's it like?

It's about to be rereleased, Bbm - inexpensive and wonderful performances (although it's been many years since I last heard them), and the remasterings should be up to the standards set for these SONY reissues:

Buy Bruno Walter Conducts Beethoven by Walter, Bruno from Amazon's Classical Music Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders.

Don't know them but they are well regarded.

There's also a set made in the ?1960's with the Columbia Symphony. It's very good indeed although the Pastoral is a tad lethargic. (IMVHO!)

Ooh! That's a different, earlier set (NYPO rather than the later Columbia SO) - and a bit pricier than the SONY set (unless the MP3 versions are acceptable):

One cycle that I've hardly ever seen mentioned, or to be found in charity shops, is Antal Dorati's with the Royal Philharmonic.
