Well we all have our less tasteful moments!)
I am also in the process of having some new shelves built for my collection. Evidence, I think, that Mr Brennan and the Downloads Brigade are getting little interest from this direction. If they stopped manufacturing CDs tomorrow (and they won't), I've still got more than enough to see out my days pleasurably.

Confession time #2
Mine is a 12 inch yellow vinyl special edition of the Boney M single, Hooray, Hooray, It's a Holi-holiday. I was 18 and had recently been to a Bill Bruford concert, so I was compos mentis and of a legal age. Please do not ask me why I did it! I think that 4 large glasses of Sancerre and a euphoric feeling brought on by listening to a glorious Barbirolli Halle Sibelius box set has caused me to admit this. I shall regret it later!

I've spent the last few days doing a fairly good sampling of my CD collection, and I have found no problems of the sort highlighted in the Hyperion link. Even my "Greatest Hits of Charlie Drake" CD is still in good nick (what a relief!) - and it comes from just the suspect period and company.

I've got a great CD of songs by Charlie Drake's illicit love child. Most people don't know about that baby and the huge star he grew to be.

eg Julie Covington: Don't Cry for me Argentina
Barbara Dickson: Another Suitcase
Variations (with Julian on Cello)
And others delivered by good singers of the calibre of Marti Webb
Although not a fan of the complete music but there are those who do like them, and if they like them - so be it!
