Here is a 'fingerprint' of the opening minute (with the final 10 seconds faded out in each case) of the only sample of the Hyperion currently available online, followed by that of the HD Sound version (with the overall level adjusted to give the same peak value). The dynamic compression in the HD Sound version is clearly shown, even is such a brief extract:

Actually, there was no chance of that, given that Martyn Brabbins has a long-standing recording relationship with Hyperion.

Why would you think that? They did not, after all, have the imagination to record and issue it in surround sound.

As a work it doesn't seem to inspire the greatest cover art.

Not surprisingly, Hyperion, and retailers, will be charging a premium price for this one in order to capitalise on the surge of interest following the Proms performance. Unless sales fail to meet forecasts I would expect bargains to be thin on the ground. Simple economics I'm afraid.
