New Rite of Spring/Frebird from Fischer and the BFO

A quick look at Channel Classics "new and future releases" page shows a forthcoming disc of the Rite of Spring and Firebird suite from the superb Ivan Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra:-

I must say I have very high hopes for this, and can't wait for it to be released. This combination always have something interesting to say, and the repertoire sounds perfect for them.

I can't see a release date anywhere, and it's not up as a pre-order on Amazon yet. Anybody heard any rumours?

(Edit:- Obviously that should be "Firebird" in the title line....)

They did a superb Rite at the Proms a few years ago, not as savage as some, but wonderfully done, we should be in for a treat!

I sort of wish it was "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I'd pay to hear that done by the BFO.

I quite enjoyed the Budapest FO and Fischer at this year's Proms, so these recordings will be a treat!

I have been lucky enough to hear them live on several occasions and have been thrilled by their music making. I have a lot of their cds and this Stravinsky coupling sounds great.

              Thanks for the heads up!
