What records are in your Christmas stocking ?

Very pleased to receive Savall’s Schubert 8 and 9 , the latest Chauvin Vivaldi disc and Iestyn Davies’s Handel disc here .

What are you hoping will be in your stocking - physical or virtual !

    Bit premature this thread, non?

Not having opened anything yet, I don't know - but suspect there may be at least one CD in there...

Well, I will be continuing to celebrate Saturnalia by giving the Savall Schubert 9th SACD a spin this afternoon.

I've been buying those big conductor boxes as a present to self over the past few Christmases but have been totally thwarted this year by Decca constantly postponing the Haitink and van Beinum sets which I'd planned on getting. They're not now being released until into 2023.

In the end, I decided to settle for the Argo St John's/Guest box. I also bought a live 1979 BPO/Karajan Beethoven Choral from Japan which came about 10 days ago. There should be a good number of CDs once Santa comes down the chimney tomorrow night.

Given my auditioning almost exclusively comprises streaming these days, any musically filled stockings chez nous will get a soaking.

I have that set. (The first set bought, unopened, in a charity shop for a fiver. The second bought from Presto for £28!)

Outstanding, imho. In fact, I must listen today.

Melancholy Grace, the latest disc from the wonderful Jean Rondeau, played on a fine sounding harpsichord and virginal. Beautifully recorded, too.
