    And a thank you to

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all but particular thanks to forumites who make recommendations for records one might never have bought . So thanks to whoever it was who recommended on the Duparc thread getting that 2 CD Maggie Teyte EMI References set - what lovely singing with such care for the text. What a shame she only recorded two of the Nuits d Ete .

And to Bryn for his possibly two or three year ago recommendation of the then very cheap DG set of Paul Badura Skoda's 1950s recordings . They have given a great deal of joy especially the Mozart concertos and the Beethoven with Scherchen and a Tchaikovsky 1 with Boult that goes with a bang . His pianism is endlessly interesting .

    PS It was Gurnemanz !

So glad I finally got to hear and see PB-S perform at Kings Place a couple or so years ago.

I echo and endorse your seasonal geeting, Barbirollians. Since I rejoined the Forum I've had my horizons widened. Long may it continue.

Hear, hear! I've acquired many discs that I didn't know of thanks to the efforts of other forumistas - Merry Christmas to you all!

A slightly equivocal thank you to the man who just delivered the Saval Beethoven 1 to 5 (I got 6 to 9 a few months ago) and Schubert 8 & 9 SACD ordered 18 days ago from Presto Classical. Hopefully, the deliverer was from management, rather than a strike-breaking postie. I did not enquire. I simply thanked him. Still waiting for the new Frank Zappa: Waka/Wazoo 4CD+Bluray set, dispatched by Chalkys.com on the 16th inst. Realistically, that is unlikely to arrive until next year, so I will have to continue to make do with the earlier CD releases for the time being.

Yes so many encouragements from this forum.

Bryn has only today sold me the idea of a new year Bax cycle.

Just delivered. About to surround myself with The Grand Wazoo and Waka Jawaka in Hi-Res 5.1 via the Blu-ray in the box (I'm not set up for Dolby Atmos). Actually, I think I had better prepare lunch first.

Apparently it was letters that weren't due to be delivered on strike days
This from a BBC news report 5 days ago
On strike days the Royal Mail says it will not be able to deliver first and second class letters.
However, it will deliver as many parcels and Special Delivery letters as possible.

Yes, however, the set was in a padded envelope which was small enough to pass through the letterbox without a problem and was sent by Large Letter Royal Mail 48 rate). It took 12 days. I also got a Christmas card and a First Group dividend cheque for 77p, so I can now risk boiling enough water for a couple of cups of tea.
