    Sibelius 7 FNSO/Collon

Given a very positive review in Gramophone I think this is an outstanding record .Not only a very fine Seventh but much the best King Christian II suite I have ever heard and a Pelleas and Melisande suite to rival Beecham and of course in much better sound. Very highly recommended.

Yes I am very pleased with this purchase. It’s some while since I bought a single Sibelius CD, buying a number of symphony cycles, and this is a really compelling compilation.

Looking forward to next Fridays Prom 26 Aug.

Readied on Qobuz for a proper listen. Thanks

Will have a listen! Has Hannu Lintu left this orchestra?

I think so Collon definitely now principal conductor ( or some other similar title) .

C’est la vie! I liked what Lintu had done there. Wait and see what Collon does.

Lintu moved from the Radio Orchestra to be head honcho at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet. It'll be interesting to see if Nick Collon's particular approach with the Aurora Orchestra carries over to the FNRSO in any way. Strongly endorse the praise for the Sibelius disc from Barbs et al.

Less enthusiastic review on Musicweb: http://www.musicweb-international.co...7-ODE14042.htm
Was all geared up to purchase the Collon but this review led me back to the Beecham which I have only on vinyl - so CD duly ordered.

I don’t agree with Mr Moore. Perhaps worth reading the Gramophone review too from Andrew Mellor.
