An 8TB desktop hard drive, mirrored to another 8TB desktop hard drive. I wish I had more backup options but that's unfortunately all I can afford at the moment. (The music currently takes up 5.2TB of space.) Desktop hard drives tend to fail within two or three years, especially when you're listening to music off them almost every day for hours; hopefully within the next few years an 8 or 10TB solid state drive will become significantly cheaper.

My policy also - not quite your 24,000 and space does become a problem, but I don’t see, at my time of life, the advantages of taking on the ripping chore and the acquisition of additional digital convertors over taking a CD from the shelf and sticking it in the player!
