Multiple recordings on your shelves

I know it isn't good to admit this, but I have rather more versions of Handel's Messiah than I imagined, and three of them are conducted by Sargent!

Of my several In the Souths, the one that really stands out is a bit of a surprise: VPO/Gardiner. Neither of these is exactly associated with Elgar. (Vints might even like it.)

... I don't think I have ever knowingly purchased any Elgar. I seem to have acquired a dozen or so Elgar CDs - inheritances, unwanted gifts...

That's exactly 23 more than I have. Nobody has ever given me an Elgar CD. Where did I go wrong?

Funny you should mention that, I'm listening to the Sargent/Huddersfield as I read your post, very old fashioned and English and wonderful.

Each or in total? I'd guess I've got around 30 of each but it's tricky counting them up in all the big boxes!

One piece of which I do have an inordinate number is Strauss' Don Juan. I'll see if I can count them up tomorrow.

How about the relatively low number of 5? That's the number of recordings I have of Feldman's 2nd String Quartet. However, when it comes to his Triadic Memories the count rises to 15.
