Just taken delivery of the ZTO 150 box - the musical content looks interesting and at around £1.60 per CD good value - the downside is the packaging - 12 jewel cases all nice and pristine but for a Sony set produced in 2018 I would have preferred and expected a smaller box with miniature LP sleeves and a saving on shelf space.

I have the database and it's great when I shop online but I then have to remember the laptop when I go shopping in London and even then I've managed to buy duplicates!

I've moved much of my CD collection to leather bound folders so I had hundreds of spare cases which I dumped at the tip. I keep a few here now in case things arrive cracked in the post. Those that are in cardboard containers or boxed sets (doubles and more) go in the old CD holding cabinet. Every so often, I go through the new acquisitions and move them into the leather bound folders. I have an excel sheet of CDs which is conveniently also accessible on my phone so I can check whether I am buying something I already have!
        Best regards,
        Jonathan

Yes, mine arrived this afternoon and I thought exactly the same thing when I opened the jpc.de package - surprisingly (and unnecessarily) bulky for a relatively recent release. I've passed it across to my wife to include in my Christmas morning stocking, so can't sample, but there's some unusual looking repertoire (Moeschinger? Ringger?) and interesting soloists and conductors, so I'm looking forward to it.

Depends on how many items there are, surely. Aren't there ways of getting most of the data entered by simply putting in a CD or record number, or using a bar code?

Did you get any warning of its impending delivery? I have heard nothing from either Dodax or Deutsche Post (DHL) since placing the order. The estimated delivery range given by amazon.fr was 5th to 12th December.

Maybe quicker but will it give you what you want - I have now been using EXCEL for around 20 years now and can be customised to suit requirements and search under a number of headings. Show me a better one!

Ordered 20/11, saying would be 05/12 - 12/12, notified 24/11 saying arrive by 12/12 and it was delivered by Royal Mail this morning. Both notifications by amazon.fr.

The good thing about the space issue for me is that in my old age with an already huge collection and now with downloading and streaming as an option, I have more or or less stopped buying CDs and the collection has reached its terminal state (a bit like its owner?). I did buy the latest Bob Dylan. It seemed appropriate to to be able to add it on the shelf to the rest of the CDs in his canon. (Also he won't be producing that many more).
While I'm not unadventurous, musically speaking, the only CDs that I'm likely to buy these days are additional recordings of what I regard as essential works, as I'm sure that in many cases I have yet to discover all that they have to offer or tell me with the help of different performers and conductors. The greatest number of recordings which I have of any work is 6, and in some cases these are off-air recordings made on my TV's integrated hard disc (or is it disk?).

Thanks, cloughie. As it happens, I contacted Dodax yesterday and they responded fairly quickly. They did not suggest a likely delivery date but did made what I read as a proforma apology and stated that they would send a replacement set forthwith. Further, they advised that should both the original parcel and the replacement eventually arrive, I should keep both as compensation for the delay. All rather strange since I had cited the estimated delivery date range as above. I will keep the Forum informed.

Delivered this afternoon by Royal Mail (that's the usual postal delivery, not parcel post. After delivering all the letters in the immediate local round, he had to return to his van to collect it and the latest issue Private Eye). I was somewhat surprised to have it delivered by Royal Mail. Since it was supposed to be sent by Deutsche Post, and they trade as DHL, I had originally expected a DHL courier delivery. Anyway, it looks like I might well be getting a second set arriving in a week or so.

I must say, I am suitably impressed by the content. I had expected many of the recordings to be from the pre-stereo era, but no, and a really good mix, too. It will surprise no one that I first listened to Coptic Light from the disc 14. I think that makes my 7th different recording to that particular work (including a couple from the radio).
