I suspect some of the recent posts about the new Berlin Phil/K-Petrenko set are just a little tongue-in-cheek , but here's the beef anyway......

Oh dear, oh dear - I've corrected my original post to correct the name.

Incidentally with delivery the cost comes in at a shade over £10 per disc. I'll give the music extracts another listen on my best audio system.

A technically gifted friend is trying to modify his DAB radio so that, instead of telling him what station he's listening to, it will scroll sub-titles whenever Mr Service starts firing his audiobullets.

This Liverpool bastard is happy to listen to him, read him and be educated informed and entertained by him too.

Do you pause to wonder how can it be that (apparently) so many people think differently? I would, though I have no feelings one way or the other as Radio 3 is now a quietly closed book. Alternatives available
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

What shocking sarcasm. I think I've made it very very clear, over how many years here, over and over and over and over, that I take a very broad view of music and musical tastes, humanity and all of its expressions, including presentational styles.

But there's nothing like repeated criticism of what seems to me an undeserving target to inspire me to stand up for them - for the underdog, contextual or otherwise. Story of my life.

Anyway, why do YOU repeatedly want to get at ME for MY subjective view..?

"Jayne Lee Wilson writes..."...."This Liverpool Bastard..." makes it mind-numbingly clear that it is what it is....

Does one really have to add IMHO, subjectively, etc etc to every post? Oh come on now.

And there's still much to enjoy on Radio 3. Not a closed book for me. Suppose I said "how dare you have an opinion on something you don't even listen to"...
Would make as much or as little sense as your comment above....but of course I wouldn't say it except for the sake of this tiresome argument.

Does one really have to add IMHO, subjectively, etc etc to every post? Oh come on now.
Jayne, you have every right to stick up for TS, but if others think differently, that's fine also. We all (including Mr S) have opinions, and you express yours with a superb command of the English language. I wish I could express myself half as well. But there are always going to be differences of opinion about composers, musicians, performance styles and Radio 3 presenters. That's what makes the forum strong. Long may it continue.

Absolutely, as I've always tried to express with as much generosity of spirit as I can find in my own soul, and as I've attempted to do again and defend in principle and practice again above.........if I ever give the wrong impression...well, I'm all too infallibly human in that...and like many people much more on edge in these trying times.......

I expressed myself badly. I will say no more. I was not conscious of having exchanged many posts with you.

I felt that, as there are two opposing views, it would be fruitful if the two "sides" exchanged roles: if those who consistently criticise should address the fact that, in Jayne's words, he 'informs, educates and entertains'; and Jayne should address the view that the rest find his delivery gives them problems. The two points of view seem to move along parallel lines. The arguments aren't mutually exclusive so why do people feel so strongly?

This thread title seems quite apposite.

I'm not sure if that's or , but I'm not surprised when some long-standing members decide that they've had enough, and quit.
