It has been noted on the BALs, after Alpie compiles his heroic lists, that many favored recordings of yore are available as downloads only. However, as I have checked some of my favorites in this category, not only are those recordings not available on a disc, but they are only available as mp3. To add insult to injury, these mp3 are frequently priced as premium recordings.
I understand the economics of not having CDs in a warehouse, regretfully. However, is it that difficult for companies to maintain back catalogs in FLAC? Or does the fault lay with the retailer, such as Presto? And considering the vintage of most of these early stereo recordings, the prices for these mp3s are extortionate
