Pianist David Fray (Erato)

Is anyone else an admirer of this pianist? He has made a few CDs for Erato, mainly Bach which don't particularly interest me, but also of Schubert, Mozart and especially Chopin which I think are very fine, the attractions are not least the excellent sound.

He is the handsome son-in-law of Riccardo Muti, which I suppose can't hurt his career...

Oh dear! No other admirers rushing in! I count myself a pianophile, but haven't heard him I'm afraid. Now I've read your recommendation, I'll look out for him (got too many Chopin recordings already though...)

Well this has been one of my favourite albums of Schubert since it was released in 2010:

but it won't be to everyone's taste. His approach lends the music (especially the 'Moments Musicaux') a depth which I believe that it can sustain but which I suppose might seem a bit OTT. Well worth a listen, IMV. Like Akiralx, I'm not so keen on his JSB.
