Eight discs to be isolated with

I know we did Desert Island Discs a few years back but I wondered what would be your eight discs to be stuck with self isolating with Covid 19. Perhaps different music from a desert island ? and indeed different performances

    Beethoven VC- Menuhin/Furtwangler
    Bach Partita No1 Lipatti
    Beethoven Op111 Solomon
    Brahms 3 Columbia SO/Walter
Mahler Das Lied von der Erde _ Ferrier/Patzak/Walter
    Elgar 2 Halle/Barbirolli
    Operetta Arias Schwarzkopf/Ackermann
Schubert Piano Sonata D960 - Leon Fleischer

Don’t know the Fleischer disc. Is that a new recording? Never heard him in Schubert.

Possibly the Sony recording from the mid-1950s, reissued and still available but pricey. This recording is presumably included in the big Sony box. Also on YouTube.

Perhaps we should have 19 instead of 8!

Schwarzkopf’s operetta disc is always one to lift the spirits. Can’t imagine it done better.

40-50 years ago, I would have had a list not unlike yours, Barbs, including Richter playing Schumann, Janet Baker in Schumann, Furtwangler conducting Schumann …

Nowadays I'd have recordings from both previous and subsequent eras of recording, including Frances Alda, Brooklyn Rider in Bartok, Quatuor Ebene in Ravel, OAE in Haydn and Keilberth's suppressed Ring cycle.

Oooer - that's a difficult one! Will it be OK to include non-classical genres in ones selection?

You could always do two lists - one for daytime and one for evenings!

I could produce an 8 discs from the last 5 years but perhaps it is in times of crisis go back to our old favourites.
