    AMcG

    Non-stop this a.m. [Sat, 9th Nov]
In every single segment of the programme - interrupting, talking over, undermining, confusing, introducing and following pretty nearly every track played.

R3 do NOT get it - it is making the programme a ragbag, a mish-mash of stops and starts with tiny fragments of music between.

This was for a huge number of R3 fans, major go-to R3 bedrock prog. By over-exposing AMcG, they are incrementally wrecking it.

I just do not get what they are trying to do / what they THINK they are trying to do.

In some ways the constant talk makes the music more welcome like that wonderful Leighton Magnificat from St John’s just on .... eh up they’ve started again.

      EXACTLY!!
      Infuriating.

Let the expert review, script and deliver in a controlled manner.
The chatty format is wrecking it.

        As always, who knows?
I haven't listened for quite some time, but have been following the comments. This morning I did listen - or tried to - but in the end gave up. I'm used to not always understanding the finer points, although listening to the extracts helps to make sense of technicalities, but this morning I couldn't even get to grips with the non-technical due to the confusion of verbiage. The brief respites that came with the music only added to the confusion in some respects as I was thinking - "now what is this illustrating", having lost the thread beforehand.
This set-up seems designed to please no-one; the chatshow approach isn't liked in new programmes so why it is considered to be a suitable approach to inflict on an established programme beats me. Another example of the disconnect between those in charge and those to whom((but no longer 'for whom' it seems) the 'service' is being delivered.

Here's what I posted under BAL:

It's becoming a bit boring to keep banging on about the twofer. But the ratio of talk:music was too great. My chief niggle is that we don't seem to get two or more versions of the same extract of music compared. OK Mahler 3 is vast...but less chat, more music.
