    . 42, 45, 46, 47, 51, 65.

There is a further sony disc which has 26, 48, 49.

I don't know whether other of his Haydn symphonies are available.

I have all those recordings and very enjoyable they are too.

It appears there are other Haydn / Solomons recordings available on CD from a website called ' Haydn House ' which identifies them as those not previously available on CD.

I may be wrong, but presumably these are transfers from LP ?

Yes, many thanks for this prompt, AmpH, I hadn't remembered 'Haydn House' ... I suppose they must have been digitised from the LPs as I can't imagine where the 'master tapes' of those Saga LPs must be.
THe 'Haydn House' web site is a bit confusing, as it says at the top
"Buy either the CD or the highest quality mp3 versions available in that format: 320 kbit/s, with sampling frequencies of 44.1K."
but in the drop-down list, it looks like only mp3 downloads are available currently.
About a year ago I did buy a couple of their CDs and they were excellent.

Thanks for all the details, Tony... it would still be nice if some enterprising record company could put them all together and offer them in a bargain box. All very confusing up to now. I had a particular fondness for the acoustic of the recordings - absolutely beautiful.

Prompted by this thread I spotted a used copy of Solomon’s versions of 39,59 and 45 yesterday at a low price - duly ordered. That claims to be a DDD recording and on the Sony label. I think unless one wants to pay a fortune for these, it’s a question of keeping an eye open either for new releases (unlikely?) or good used copies when they surface.

Just availed myself of this CD recommended by Simon Heighes the other week - it's thrilling stuff, and good to have the famous piano concerto on a harpsichord. Up to now I only had Staier and Brautigam playing the fortepiano...similarly excellent, but nice to hear the work on harpsichord. Playing and recording quality is top notch.

Trevor Pinnock / English Concert made a very fine harpsichord recording of the well-known Haydn Concerto in D, coupled with the Trumpet and (attrib) Oboe concertos played by Mark Bennett and Paul Goodwin respectively.
Currently, one can buy it 2nd hand from the River People for as little as £1.72 plus P&P:

I missed that one, Tony...must try and snap up a copy. The Hogwood trumpet concerto recording with Friedemann Immer is a disappointment...for the first time ever with the AAM, I felt that they were not up to the mark.

Have also just acquired this very fine set mentioned by Richard Barrett a short while ago. Five discs of mostly unknown early Haydn, but so wonderfully played and recorded. A real treat.
