Furtwängler's Radio Broadcasts 1939 - 1945 Discussed on Record Review.

I was very impressed with these recordings this morning. Although I'm familiar with Eric Rohn's Beethoven Violin Concerto recording I'm largely unfamiliar with the other performances discussed. Subsequently, i have wondered about purchasing this set.

Did anyone else hear it and have an opinion? I'd be very interested to hear others thoughts.

    Many thanks.

This isn't the super expensive SACD set, is it?
Many Furtwangler wartime recordings are classics. His Beethoven 9 from Stockholm and Bruckner 8 from Vienna are my favorites, but I also like the Brahms Second where the applause continues while Furt is supposedly making his von Trapp Family style getaway from the Gestapo.

The BP SACD set is exactly what it's about.

I have the set which arrived this morning. I'll be interested to hear if the sound has improved markedly.

I've never been over keen on Eric Rohn playing the Beethoven Violin Concerto, although I'm a great Furtwängler admirer.
