I’m a big fan of his first wife, the brilliant singer-songwriter Dory.

Dory was actually his second wife, his first having been the jazz singer Betty Bennett (1921- ), to whom he was married from 1952-1957; he married Dory Langan (1925-2012) in 1959.

Now spinning. Sadly, there is a loud digital 'clack' during the first movement of the 24 bit 4 channel MLP surround layer. I don't remember it being on the 2 channel layers. This was my first encounter with Previn's art. 'I could have danced all night' sounded aggressively bitonal at first to my teenage ears, but I got used to it in time (I don't now think it's really bitonal).

Someone has suggested a separate "Favourite Previn Recordings" Thread (although I don't see any moves to actually create such an one) - I think that, if that does come about, this one might more profitably be merged with it, rather than the "RIP" Thread, which I see as more a forum for Forumistas to express their appreciation of Previn's various activities, and their memories of their encounters with it.

Although, you're right: there does seem to be some overlap - I'll see how the distinction between the two Threads (if any) develops.
