    Ah! The one I linked to was the one that CfP released in 1976 (the time you mentioned) - perhaps there was a previous CfP version (which I can't find)? I had - indeed, have the later CfP with Tirimo; on cassette! (Serviceable: no great shakes, I thought.)

      Looking at discogs - there only appear to have been three CfP versions - the one fhgl referred to , the Tirimo and finally on CD the former EMI Eminence coupling with Fowke and Temirkanov.

      Played the old Ashkenazy/Previn this morning - sometimes familiarity breeds contempt - it really is very good.

        Oddly, my knowledge of my record collection in my formative years is usually pretty good but, on this occasion, it seems to have failed me. Anyway, a terrific work.

          They were a great partnership - used to have an LP (don't have the CD) of them playing Rachmaninov's 2-piano works.
