Yes I would rave about that as well. But there is something about the Ferrier voice that is unique - those plaintive clarinet-llke tones , those amazing low notes . I can't listen to Um Mitternacht without being almost overcome with emotion . The voice of the century....

- I totally agree: it's my favourite Musical sound.

But, unbelievably, there are some ... individuals ... (and not all of them are scoundrels) who disagree and put her in the "Singers you can't stand" category ...

Personal choice, ferney, but just to give you some hope for the planet, I do like CF's voice.

Do you know I've never met anyone like that? Different genres but it's a bit like not caring for Paul Robeson's or Ella Fitzgerald's voice . Two more that are instantly recognisable voices ....
