Let's hope that, as with the Mozart 225, some amazon marketplace supplier, or Amazon itself, comes up with lower prices shortly after the release date. Oh, and while mentioning the Mozart 225 set, I note that amazon.co.uk appear to be offering the whole thing, in their reasonable but not great data rate mp3 versions, for the princely sum of £20.99! However once selected, it turns out to be just the duos.

[I see Europadisc are offering the Bach 333 set for £379.95 (post free).]

The average CD duration for the set is around 76' 15", so at less than £1.71 per CD (and that's not even considering the books and DVD). It looks pretty much a bargain, though many of us are bound to have a good proportion of the contents already.

I think these are worth a post of their own:

Agree, Bryn, that is a good price for it. It's still 380 quid though - and a lot of CDs (I'm supposed to be 'downsizing' )

Four weeks to go before its release. Europadisc still appears to offer the lowest price. However, since that offer holds until November 29th, I reckon it's worth waiting to see what happens between the release date and then.

Duly arrived, all 25lbs (or 12 kilos) of it. TOH away so snuck into the house but it'll be difficult to conceal. No more CD buying after this box (plus the - very handsome - George Szell and, because it was cheap, Alicia de Larrocha boxes). Bach 333 will be enough to dominate my listening for the next year or so.

Ah well, I have just hit the button and ordered from amazon.fr (£367.48, including p&p to U.K.), no marketplace suppliers having yet turned up on the amazon.co.uk listing.

But only a fairly small proportion of it consists of new recordings... it's not much more than a packaging exercise designed to squeeze a bit more profit out of all that back catalogue before it's too late (hence the 333 no doubt - any more round number would be too long to wait). No thanks.

I've heard that one before too....

I've just snuck a bottle of Lagavulin in, so that's me done for a while...

                          A favourite of mine, Silvestrione!

HD, you couldn’t do CD-ROMs for me?

A fine choice of whisky! Alas, BBM, I no longer have a reliable disc drive here in France - and my old MacBook Pro which has one built-in is in Scotland. I'm tempted to say that you'll just have to save up your bawbees - or maybe some marketplace seller will deliver an early Christmas-present-to-oneself opportunity, à la HvK last year.

Just been advised that mine is on its way. It's expected to arrive next Wednesday, though I would not be surprised it comes earlier. It could be a problem if the estimate is updated to Tuesday, that would mean missing the lunchtime concert, and City University evening one (Ensemble x.y).
