    Summer RR

During the Proms, RR reverts to a series of more or less barefaced extended trails.

Do many listen? Because for me it's usually a yawn. New issues can be useful, BUT at this time of year, there are usually rather fewer major releases.

    So....?

Harsh. Today's piece on Birgit Nilsson I thought fascinating ( and I'm not an opera or singer buff, far from it), with terrific extracts from, Wagner of course, but also Bluebeard's Castle and Salome. Infectious enthusiasm from the presenter, who decisively talked A McG in to a small supporting role.

And then we're had David Owen Norris on Martha Argerich, and Claudio Arrau: very enjoyable, both.
