    Currentzis/MusicAeterna: Mahler 6 !

    Scary...

    (I don't think it's released till mid-October.... it's just the concept that I find a little )
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Their recording of Le Sacre du Printemps was favoured by La Tribune des Critiques last Sunday, much to the panel's surprise when the preferred version was revealed.

Vincent Agrech, Sophie Bourdais et Emmanuelle Giuliani élisent la version de référence du Sacre du Printemps d'Igor Stravinsky. Seuls ont été pris en compte les enregistrements des 20 dernières années.

I think perhaps meilleure version is as misleading as RR's "best".

From the cover it looks a peeling.

The Sacre is stunning. Highly recommended...

The Tchaik 6 is interesting but quirky

Am looking forward to this very much!

Sorry, Caliban. Listen anyway, for the differences were interesting, although by the time I had heard five consecutive versions of the danse sacrale I was ready to run from the room. I have never been able to listen to Le sacre with a clear head. Any performance that doesn’t fall apart sounds wonderful to me, and none of the five were my preferred choice.

This was my first thought! (But, as it's a single CD, it doesn't matter - if the Scherzo is programmed after the Andante, I can always correct it )

Looking forward to this - but sha'n't be getting the £20 vinyl version. (You can't programme vinyl, for one thing.)

You can if each movement is on a separate side.
