Francesca Da Rimini - Symphony of the Air (?)/Stokowski

The "famous" Everest recording is with the Stadium Symphony Orchestra of New York - which was the NYPO when recording for the better-known labels. The "Stadium" involved was Lewisohn Stadium:

I'd have to choose from Rozhdestvensky in the ballets, and Svetlanov in the Symphonies...

Probably the Rozh 1960 Nutcracker, and his 1969 Swan Lake (both Melodiya/BMG);
Then the live Tokyo 1990 Suntory Hall performances of Symphonies 3,5 and 6 from USSRSSO/Svetlanov, (Pony Canyon HDCD, Exton etc.)...

After all, how many times has it been said 'The performance didn't do the music justice' ?
I suspect the difficulty is that those who know about music or have a view as to a piece's worth would find it difficult or impossible to overlook shortcomings, however good the performance?

Re the Hvorostovsky aria from Onegin, it wasn't from the full opera conducted by Bychkov, with the Orchestre de Paris (which is a recording I love). The music played on the program was from a CD of arias conducted by Gergiev.
