Schumann Piano Concerto - wasn't there a BAL quite recently ?

The Rate Your Music website (here) says there was a BAL in 2000 when Perahia/Abbado came out on top.

I was just interested to know as I have been immensely taken with the Brendel LSO Abbado recording I found in a charity shop.

The coupled Weber Konzertstuck is superb - Brendel gave it the coveted umbrella symbol in the booklet to his collected recordings boxset for the recordings he felt were the best he'd done. He tended to favour his live recordings.

Just played a very lovely recording of the piece I was unaware of with Eugene Istomin accompanied by Bruno Walter on CBS as was. Really fine slow movement and a finale that is not too fast .

Coupled on an old Bruno Walter Edition CD with an incendiary Emperor from 1941 with Serkin.

It's a lovely record - I recommend it highly . Apparently it also appears in the recent box set Sony released of Istomin's recordings.
