    New software for old recordings

The video on the linked page is I think quite amazing.

I know Pristine is already using this for restoring Schnabel's HMV Beethoven Sonatas and a sample is on their website.

One of the tracks on Naxos' A-Z of Pianists has horrendous flutter - it would be interesting to hear how much it can be reduced. What other recordings do people here feel could benefit from treatment?

    Sounds good - http://www.pristinestorage.com/sampl...le=PAKM039.mp3

I wonder what the "original" sounded like. Some of those have perhaps already been put onto CD with various degrees of "improvement" applied - some much better than others. I thought the Naxos ones were perhaps the best a few years back.

Just trying a few of Rubinstein's recordings on Spotify. They were issued on BBC Legends I think. Apart from the somewhat muddy sound, some could definitely do with being passed through a tool such as Capstan - e.g. http://open.spotify.com/track/3vTmsJ3Yzd8s9JT48KQHvU

Celemony software has some awesome features like the direct note access in Melodyne
this seems to be a stripped version of Melodyne
which has huge potential for creative abuse IMV

Some of the 1940s Michael Raucheisen Lieder recordings were made on early tape which suffered bad stretching and hence colossal wow and flutter. Some of the affected recordings were in two big Acanta LP reissues of Hugo Wolf. IIRC Hans Hotter was one of the affected singers. It would be really nice to have this wonderful archive of great Lieder singing properly cleaned up.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!
