Since asking my newsagent to replace my Gramophone order to International Record Review, I notice that there are now 4 copies of Gramophone on the shelf. Previously, the distributors had sent my copy and one other for the shelf (which invariably was returned unsold at the end of the month). It's very strange that they should now send four.

Looks like the audio editor, Andrew Everard, has succumbed once more to an inability to hold his temper with his readership. Another reader has had the temerity to question the gospel according to Saint Andrew over the perceived superiority of Naim equipment and been rewarded with being likened to a double glazing salesman for his efforts. Funnily enough, dear old Andrew doesn't appear to appreciate the irony of his remarks, given his own beating on the same gong.
After his libellous slandering of his estimable predecessors, messrs Borwick and Horn, I'm afraid my opinion of Andrew Everard has hit an all time low with this latest cheap shot.

I despair!
Well I don't actually, because I've just ordered my free copy of International Record Review and hope to be joining all you ex-Gramophone readers soon. Not that it makes me at all happy to see a once-fine quality publication like Gramophone so reduced.
All we need to do now is to get the unctuous tones of Jolly James off Radio 3 and I shall be a happier chap

But that one of Birgit Nilsson (as Salomé) trying to save herself from falling down a cliff is quite hideous - most appropriate.
