    Lack of Record Review newsletter...

I've always looked forward to RR's Friday newsletter which gives me a good idea of now my Saturday morning is going to shape up. Alas, I had raging toothache yesterday and the newsletter, or lack there of, was the last thing on my mind as I contemplated a session with the, very good, NHS emergency dentist this morning.

It wasn't until I'd got home, pain free, that I realised that Andrew and co were discussing a whole collection of Chamber discs that I was interested in. Although I had signed up for the generic newsletter, there was no missive from the Beeb regarding the delights on offer from Andrew this morning.

Another retrograde step designed to save a tiny % point in Radio 3's budget?!

I know Proms newsletters have been discontinued so could be a trend Pasters.

I think I got an email recently saying: No more R3 newsletters.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

        I too got an email:
"It's goodbye from the Record Review newsletter.

Following a detailed review of BBC newsletters, we've made the very difficult decision to close this newsletter and sadly, this is the last Record Review newsletter we’ll be sending. But you don’t need to miss out on the latest programmes, features and content from the BBC.

Subscribe to the 'More for you to enjoy' BBC newsletters and ensure you're always up to date with the latest shows, services and experiences from across the BBC. And if we spot anything extra we think you'll love, we'll let you know about that too.
Sign up today - Subscribe and sign up"

(They'll probably make sure to draw attention to "The Good Old Days" on Fridays - I'm sure our interests are far too narrow to serve without giving us lots of "exciting" opportunities to listen to other genres of music....)

"If you're browsing the Record Review website, you might also like EastEnders, the all new Top Gear, Masterchef, Wallace and Gromit, Follow the Money. Come on, you must be interested in some of them, damn you!"
