Actually, I've followed Nicola since she won Young Musician in the Usher Hall and I've been very interested to hear her playing develop. I think she makes a much better sound than she did as a youngster and I find her vibrato more focused. I always enjoy her playing both live and on cd. No, I don't think she's quite on the same level as Lisa Batiashvili , Vilde Frang or Janine Janson but she's certainly deserving of the career she's developing.
She's a real ambassador for classical music and such a lovely lady.
A friend of mine heard her play for his concert society a few years back - she wasn't paid, she just got expenses. He was impressed that she turned up early and practised for three hours in the room before the concert. Proof that she takes what she does very seriously and is not just a 'pretty face.'Last edited by Conchis; 03-03-17, 22:06.

But what has happened to the still-young Chang? Off the radar since 2010.
She's a bit of a twit (is that the right term?)

I see Cho Liang Lin's Sibelius and Nielsen coupling with Salonen is going for pennies secondhand on Amazon .
I have now a CD copy on its way . It is strange how sometimes one can forget recordings that meant a lot to you . I blame Ida Haendel as her Sibelius recordings rather obliterated pre CD versions from my mind .
The Nielsen is terrific I have quite a few versions and only Frang comes close for me .

Amazed to see from Presto site that apart from the odd download and the recent incorporation of the Nielsen/Sibelius in the Salonen Nielsen symphony box none of Cho Liang Lin's Sony records are available in the UK especially the outstanding Prokofiev/Stravinsky concerto record that is up there with KWC's identical coupling .

Following PGs comments above, as things gradually get onto CD one of my top missing disks was Tibor Varga's Nielsen. I think it did come out in a big DG box recently but wasn't available on its own for download, must look again!
The Campoli news is fantastic, most of it has come out over the years but the Bruch/Saint Saens that many of us grew up with on Ace of Clubs has only been available on LP transfer and some of the 10" encore recordings have never appeared. Does anyone know whether Eloquence have access to the tapes?

Infuriatingly I can't find it now but I'm pretty sure it was in a DG box set covering late mono/early stereo years.
It is possible that I am confusing it with another DG recording that I have been waiting for, Gimpel's Lalo, which was in 'The mono Era'1948-1957' but not available for download from the DG site.
